Savory Sage & Pumpkin Seed Pate – Dips and Spreads Recipe
This stuff is amazing on whole grain crackers. It’s also a great alternative to peanut butter as a spread for celery and makes a super flavorful substitute for mayo on sandwiches.
1 tablespoon unrefined macadamia nut oil or organic extra-virgin coconut oil
2/3 cup finely chopped shallots
1 cup shredded carrots
1/4 cup chopped fresh sage
unrefined sea salt, to taste
1/4 cup hemp seeds
2 tablespoons raw pumpkin seeds
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
3 cloves chopped garlic
1. Heat the oil in a heavy skillet over medium heat; add the shallots, carrots, and sage, and saute until the vegetables are very soft, about 5 minutes. Season with salt to taste.
2. Transfer the shallot and carrot mixture to a Blender. Add the hemp seeds, pumpkin seeds, lemon juice, and garlic. Process until well blended but still somewhat textured. Find something to spread it on and enjoy!
