Grandma’s apple pie


  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 lemon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1.5 cups shredded peeled apples (about 2 medium apples)
  • 1 cup milk


Preheat the oven to 220°F. In a large bowl, mix the flour and baking soda. Than gradually add sugar, lemon zest, milk and two yolks. Use electric mixer on medium speed until you get light and fluffy. Add the shredded apples to the compound mixture with flour.
Aside, chop the two proteins with a pinch of salt. Carefully, stirring with a wooden spoon, add the protein in the mixture with apples. Cover the baking pan (22 cm) with cooking paper. Pour the mixture and bake in a heated oven for about 40 minutes. To be sure, plump with a hamster, if it’s dry, means that the cake is baked. Allow it to cool, sprinkle it with powdered sugar and serve the cake. Also you can serve this cake while it’s hot with ice cream. Grandma always knew hot to make the best delicious baked dessert.
